Haynes photograph collection, 1878-1900 (bulk 1885-1890).

Early photographs of Tucson buildings and streets, Sabino Canyon, and Fort Lowell. There are views of Prescott, Nogales, Phoenix, and Tubac. Scenes of Toltec include Pima Indians and dwellings. Many Tucson views include Tohono O'odham men, women and children. There are images of Apache Indians including portraits of Loco, Naiche, Apache Kid, and others. There are family photographs, some in theatrical costume. Also there are a few mining and ranching images. Photographs were taken by Haynes, Henry Buehman, Ben Wittick, Carelton Watkins, and C.S. Fly.

Photographer and businessman; Willis P. Haynes worked as a photographer in Tucson beginning in 1886. During the 1890's, Haynes practiced photography while working for the census bureau, the Nogales customs office, and the U.S. District Court in Prescott.
